Ultrasound is a treatment modality used to treat pain and promote healing.  Ultrasound is a form of deep heat.  A high frequency sound wave is transmitted. This causes a vibration in the deep tissue molecules and creates heat. This increase in heat will increase blood flow to the area, which brings nutrients to the injured area and promotes tissue healing. Ultrasound is used for pain relief and inflammation, to improve recovery time, reduce muscle spasms and increase range of motion.
